Psalms 17

Prayer for Protection against Oppressors.

A Prayer of David.

1 Hear a ajust cause, O Lord, bgive heed to my cry;
cGive ear to my prayer, which is not from ddeceitful lips.
2Let emy
I.e. vindication
judgment come forth from Your presence;
Let Your eyes look with gequity.
3You have htried my heart;
You have visited me by night;
You have itested me and jYou find
Or no evil device in me; My mouth
nothing;
I have lpurposed that my mouth will not transgress.
4As for the deeds of men, mby the word of Your lips
I have kept from the npaths of the violent.
5My osteps have held fast to Your
Lit tracks
paths.
My qfeet have not slipped.

6I have rcalled upon You, for You will answer me, O God;
sIncline Your ear to me, hear my speech.
7 tWondrously show Your lovingkindness,
O uSavior of those who take refuge
Or from those who rise up...at Your right hand
at Your right hand
From those who rise up against them.
8Keep me as
Lit the pupil, the daughter of the eye
the xapple of the eye;
Hide me yin the shadow of Your wings
9From the zwicked who despoil me,
My aadeadly enemies who surround me.
10They have abclosed their
Lit fat
unfeeling heart,
With their mouth they adspeak proudly.
11They have now aesurrounded us in our steps;
They set their eyes afto cast us down to the ground.
12He is aglike a lion that is eager to tear,
And as a young lion ahlurking in hiding places.

13 aiArise, O Lord, confront him, ajbring him low;
akDeliver my soul from the wicked with alYour sword,
14From men with amYour hand, O Lord,
From men
Or whose portion in life is of the world
of the world, aowhose portion is in this life,
And whose belly You apfill with Your treasure;
They are satisfied with children,
And leave their abundance to their babes.
15As for me, I shall aqbehold Your face in righteousness;
arI will be satisfied
Or with beholding
with Your atlikeness when I awake.
